What is CSGO Team: Counter Logic Gaming?

Counter Logic Gaming is a premier North American electronic sports organization widely known as one of the best console e-sports teams in the world. The team was founded by George ‘HotshotGG’ Georgallidis and Alexander ‘Vodoo’ Beutel in April 2010, with its headquarters located in the United States. Counter Logic Gaming currently has teams competing in League of Legends, Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Dota 2, and Hearthstone.

During the beginning stages of their debut into the competitive scene in 2010, Counter Logic Gaming was able to take home several victories in offline events such as Major League Gaming’s 2010 Pro Circuit and Cyberathlete Professional League’s National event. After failing to qualify for the league’s World Championship, HotshotGG decided to step down from the top lane position and recruit future Halo professional Tyler ‘Spartan’ Ganza.

When was CLG Founded?

The CSGO Team for Counter Logic Gaming, often abbreviated CLG CS: GO, was created in early 2013 after North American organization Counter Logic Gaming announced that they would be expanding into competitive gaming with the acquisition of a new CS: GO team. Though since its conception it has undergone multiple roster changes, it currently consists of Pujan “FNS” Mehta as an in-game leader, James “hazed” Cobb, Josh “jdm64” Marzano, Tarik Celik, and Peter “ptr” Gurney.

CLG has a long history in the Counter-Strike scene. This year’s lineup of CLG was formed from CSGO Team Dynamic. Even though the roster has constantly been changing, its core is still there, with FNS leading them to victory at Northern Arena 2015 against Cloud9 in the finals. At the beginning of 2016, they took part in MLG Major Championship: Columbus and topped their group by defeating FaZe Clan, Team Liquid, and Splyce. But they were stopped by Luminosity Gaming in the quarterfinals.

On May 30th, 2016, FNS and Team Captain Stephen “reltuC” Cutler left CLG for personal reasons. On June 5th, both James “hazed” Cobb and Josh “jdm64” Marzano followed in their footsteps to leave the team. The coaching role was filled in by Pujan “FNS” Mehta, who learned to call during his time on the team. His spot as Lieutenant was filled by Alec “Slemmy” White.

On August 8th, 2016, Counter Logic Gaming announced that Tarik Celik and Peter “ptr” Gurney would be joining their roster as CSGO team. At Northern Arena, they managed to beat NRG and qualify for the ECS Season.

Talking about the first win of CSGO Team CLG:-

Following their first major win in April 2011 at the National Gamers’ League – St. Louis under their new player, they were able to take home another win at the next National Gamers’ League – Dallas in that same year. In June of 2011, HotshotGG stepped down from the Counter Logic Gaming squad for a short time as he put his focus into managing and developing his newfound team, leaving Vodoo to step up as an interim player.

  • 2nd at Season XIII – ESL Pro League North America; 1st at ECS Season I Finals;
